Industrial Economics, Incorporated (IEc) is looking to hire
4-5 Research Analysts with undergraduate training. If you are interested
in consulting you should visit their website, www.indecon.com,
as they are starting to review and screen candidates this month.
RFF has several paid summer internships for outstanding undergraduate and graduate students. Priority consideration is given to graduate students. The program is open to both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens. However, the latter must be enrolled at a U.S. university and have proper work and residency documentation. Internships are available beginning in June and ending in late August for a 10-week assignment. To meet individual needs, some flexibility in the beginning and ending dates is possible. Students earn a stipend ($375 per week for graduate students; $350 per week for undergraduates). Housing assistance is not provided.
Each intern can expect to work with one more RFF researchers on a variety of ongoing projects or assist in the development of entirely new areas of research and policy analysis. RFF's three research divisions are Energy and Natural Resources (ENR), Quality of the Environment (QE), and Risk, Resource, and Environmental Management (RREM). All three divisions seek highly motivated candidates in the social and natural sciences. For positions in ENR and QE, applicants should be trained in economics and quantitative methods. RREM is particularly interested in candidates with a strong interest in public policy. Candidates for all divisions should have outstanding policy analysis and strong writing skills and an interest in complex environmental policy problems amenable to interdisciplinary analysis. The ability to work without supervision in a careful and conscientious manner is essential.
RFF will post a list of anticipated research projects for summer 2005 on its web page by mid-January. Students are urged to consult that listing before applying to determine if they have a suitable background for those areas. No application form is required. Students applying for the 2005 internship program should send an application package with: (1) a cover letter describing their areas of interest, (2) a resume, and (3) a photocopy of a recent transcript. Applicants to RREM also should enclose a brief writing sample (3-5 pages of a recent paper).
The cover letter should be as specific as possible regarding research topics of interest. In addition, please provide name, address, phone, and email information for two references. Application materials must be postmarked or faxed to the division contact person listed below no later than March 15, 2005, with the deadline for faxed materials being 5 p.m., Eastern time. Application materials must be sent in a single package; email applications will not be accepted.

Ecologic Transatlantic Internship Program
Ecologic's Transatlantic Internship Program (ETAI) provides interns from the US and Canada with an opportunity to work with young scientists in an interdisciplinary and international environment, and we welcome applications for this program. Ecologic aims to integrate interns fully into institute work and office routines, and interns are expected to join several project teams during the course of an internship. Interns also participate in events hosted by various organizations in Berlin's transatlantic community, enabling them to gain a broad understanding of this aspect of international relations. The internship may on occasion involve travel. The specifics of an intern's responsibilities will depend on his or her interests, skills, and experience, as well as on the ongoing projects at Ecologic. The internship is not intended for individuals wishing to pursue independent research of their own.
As a rule, applicants should have at least a bachelor's degree. Students may wish to take time off from a graduate degree program (in public policy, international relations, environmental studies, law or other relevant disciplines) for an internship, or they may do so between undergraduate and graduate studies. Starting and ending dates are flexible; as a rule, internships last for six to twelve months. At present, internships are available only in Ecologic's Berlin office. At least basic German language skills are useful, but not essential. Interns are expected to work full time (40 hours per week) and can be released to pursue German language classes (5 hours per week).
To apply, please send a full resume, academic record, and a writing sample (e.g. article, seminar paper) in each language you feel comfortable working in. Please state the preferred start date and duration, and indicate your level of German language skills.
Applications should be sent to Sandra Lustig at jobs@ecologic.de
with "ETAI Application: [your name]" in the subject line.
Ecologic is developing cooperation arrangements with universities in the US and Canada that wish to place their students in internships within our Transatlantic Internship Program. Please contact Sandra Lustig (lustig@ecologic.de) for more information.
