Duke Recycles >
Founded in 1989 as a student collective, Duke Recycles is now a staffed
office that coordinates all recycling efforts at Duke. Many students
volunteer for Duke Recycles special programs, including post-basketball
recycling pickup and recycling programs in conjunction with local
elementary schools.
Environmental
Alliance >
Environmental Alliance is a student organization committed to promoting
the implementation of sustainable practices at Duke University. It sponsors
conferences, field trip, and special events like the Eco-Olympics, and
lobbies for green purchasing on campus. By educating, organizing and
advocating, we strive to make Duke University a model campus for environmental
stewardship.
Project WILD
>
Project WILD (Wilderness Initiatives for Learning at Duke) is a completely
student-run organization dedicated to providing incoming freshmen and
campus organizations with opportunities for experiential education in
an outdoor setting. Each August, Project WILD sponsors a popular orientation
program for incoming freshmen that takes place in a safe but challenging
wilderness environment, and in the spring, Project WILD offers a house
course on experiential education which includes an eight-day backpacking
trip over Spring Break.
