Study Away
Many Duke students spend a semester or summer studying away from campus as a way of broadening their educational experience.
Undergraduates in the Nicholas School (as well as other departments across campus) may wish to spend a term at the Duke University Marine Laboratory, which offers small class sizes, close-up encounters with dolphins, turtles, and other marine creatures.
The Duke University Study Abroad Office offers Study Abroad programs developed and administered by Duke, for which students receive Duke credits, as well as other programs approved by Duke, for which students receive transfer credits. Students may also petition the Study Abroad Office to enroll in other programs.
Undergraduates at the Nicholas School have discovered that a number of Study Abroad options mesh particularly well with their academic interests. Duke programs of particular interest include semesters in Costa Rica or South Africa sponsored by the Organization for Tropical Studies. Students may also wish to pursue the Duke-approved programs offered by the School for International Training.

have participated in Study Abroad programs and who are willing to
share their experiences with you.
