298.70 Fire Ecology and Management.
The principles underlying the field of fire ecology and the skillful application of fire to meet land management objectives are explored through guest lectures, training sessions, readings and assignments.  Specific topics range from the history of fire in America, to the role of fire in landscape change, to the relationship of fire to climate change.  Prescribed burning and use of fire in the contemporary landscape are important topics in the class.  Course credit: 1 unit.
