298.91. Marine Ichthyology. Overview of the bony and cartilaginous fishes, including their taxonomy, anatomy, functional morphology, and physiology. Aspects of their relationship with humans, specifically how fish biology and life history affect this relationship. Lectures and discussion of current scientific literature, and field/lab experiences to explore and collect data on local fish populations. Quantitative genetic techniques to explore fish population and community structure. (Given at Beaufort.) Pre-requisite: Bio 25L or equivalent, or consent of the instructor.
