Earth and Ocean Science Courses (EOS)

90S. Fossils and Climate Change. NS Study of the use of animal and plant fossils including geochemical analyses of fossils to understand past climates; review of invertebrate fossils in the laboratory. Climatic changes in both terrestrial and oceanic environments over time scales ranging from millions to hundreds of years. A three-day field trip to include fossil collecting on the North Carolina coastal plain and studying modern coastal environments and living invertebrates at the Duke University Marine Laboratory. Open only to students in the FOCUS Program. Instructor: Corliss. One course.
