Meet The Green Grok Team
Head Grok - Dr. Bill Chameides
Dr. Chameides combines more than 30 years in academia as a professor, researcher, teacher, mentor, and now dean with a 3-year stint in the NGO world as the chief scientist of Environmental Defense Fund. He is a
* member of the National Academy of Sciences,
* fellow of American Geophysical Union, and
* recipient of the American Geophysical Union's MacElwane Award.
Bill has served on numerous national and international committees and task forces and, in recognition of his “extraordinary service,” was named a National Associate of the National Academies. He has been the dean of the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University since 2007.
Bill is a natural, gifted communicator. He has tapped the fizz of carbonated soda at time.com to explain “integrated gasification combined cycle,” given NPR listeners a primer on carbon trading, doled out green tips to ABCNEWs viewers, and turned Katie Couric on to how to curb global warming on The Today Show.
