After completing her Master's in Environmental Management from the Nicholas School, Genna began a career in product and supply chain sustainability with Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI). At REI, her main focus is chemicals management in global textile supply chains. In this role, Genna works with material and finished good manufacturers  to identify opportunities for substitution of more sustainable chemical alternatives and establishment of control systems that protect factory workers, local communities, the environment, and the end consumer from chemical impacts of manufacturing.

Genna has contributed to two peer reviewed publications in Environmental Science &Technology. She currently serves as a steering committee member of the OIA Chemicals Management Working Group, Chair of the OIA Flame Retardants task force, and is a member of various industry organizations, including ASTM and AATCC.
