Kirby has worked in fisheries management for the last 6 years. During this time, his primary focus has been coordinating the management of near-shore fish species between state and federal agencies. Kirby currently works on American eel, Atlantic herring, Coastal Sharks, Spiny Dogfish, and Tautog. Prior to starting with the Commission, he worked for an Ocean Conservation Non-Governmental Organization that organized international conferences on seafood sustainability topics. Kirby is a DC area native and currently lives in NE Washington DC, with his wife Rachel (also a Duke MEM Alum) and their dog Ruby. Kirby enjoys being active through biking to work and traveling whenever he can.
